Look What I did Tonight! July 2, 2009 2 Comments

For the first time since June 19th, I drove myself somewhere tonight! Tres eventful. I decided a few weeks ago that since I’m kind of set in my haircut ways, and this will probably be the do I have for the rest of eternity, that I should mix it up color-wise. Here’s the result of such a decision:

Ooh la la!

If you don’t like it, I can deal ’cause I like it lots and so does my beau!

A Post of Pictures July 1, 2009 No Comments

In flipping back through the old PowerShot, I realized that I have not downloaded any pics since Colin’s actual b-day weekend in April. So, following is a review of the photo-worthy moments from April 26 through Memorial Day weekend. More shots of my week-and-a-half since being home with Colin and Miles coming tomorrow. Enjoy these, for now!

Naptime is Nice! June 30, 2009 4 Comments

All is going quite well this week. I’m on day two of my week in charge of Colin and Miles while Colin has his second week off from Doodle Bugs. Things are actually going smoothly (knock on wood). We’re enjoying decent outside time between rain drops, Miles is napping at decent times and for long spells so I can either dedicate ample time to Colin, or to myself. For instance, both Monday and today the boys have napped for several hours at the same time in the afternoon. Yesterday I used that time to nap too, as Miles had a spot of time in the wee hours where he didn’t feel like being content in his crib, and today I’ve spent naptime getting myself pulled together for the day, paying bills, ordering a new duvet cover for our bed, and just kind of roaming about online.

I think one of the biggest things that’s easier this time around is that our house is already running on a schedule. When Colin arrived, we were all willy-nilly about doing stuff whenever we wanted, and it took us quite some time to realize that a schedule and daily routine is our friend and a baby’s friend. Seems those little whippersnappers like to have a little rhythm to their day! So, this time around we’re just working Miles into that routine and it seems to be going quite well.

Also, with Colin, when the kid cried and it was remotely close to a feed time, he had a bottle in his mouth. Don’t go calling child protection on me–I’m not ignoring Miles’ needs–but we have realized that the kid can be held off for say, 20 minutes this feed or 30 minutes that feed and work his bottle schedule so that he’s up only once a night. We’re generally feeding him one last time while we’re still up at 11 or 12, and then he’ll cruise for 3-4 hours. Last night I was up at 4:30 to feed him, and then this AM Colin was first up at 8 and Miles was soon to follow.

I don’t know how long all of this scheduled niceness will last… if one thing is certain, babies are unpredictable little buggers and I’m certain Miles has some curveballs hidden up his wee sleeves.

A final note about pictures. I owe y’all some new ones, and they are coming. We had a Mac malfunction (hard drive went late last week), but thanks to the wisdom of my husband, he bought the extended warranty so the replacement was covered and his backup drive worked like a charm… got all our stuff back within a couple hours of being back up yesterday. So… since I didn’t want some pictures on one machine, and a random batch on another, I was waiting to download my week’s pics until his machine was back online. Since it is in working order, I hope to get things updated in the photo arena either later tonight or tomorrow at (crossing fingers) collective naptime.

Michael Jackson June 26, 2009 No Comments

So, I realize that Michael Jackson was pretty much one of the strangest dudes out there, but there is no denying his talent and status during his hayday. I don’t think that we have seen a pop artist reach the stratosphere that he inhabited since he arrived and I am actually finding myself a bit more reflective about how his music and personality contributed to the soundtrack of my youth and how recent memory of him is more sad and tragic than anything else. So, with that said, I hope he finds some peace now.
